Built by awarself. We don't sell your data, we don't track you across other apps, and we have no in-app purchases. This page is intentionally short. Full vendor disclosure is in this app's Data Safety section on Google Play.

What we collect

• Account info — your name and email when you sign in with Google, kept private and never shared with other users.
• Profile — the display name and avatar you choose, plus a ghost-mode flag and, if you opt in, an approximate location so you appear on the world map. Ghost mode is on by default, meaning your identity is hidden on the map.
• Chat content — messages you send and the AI-generated replies, stored to maintain the conversation thread across sessions.
• In-app activity — screens visited, actions taken inside the app, and how often you watch rewarded ads to unlock new AI friends or extend chat sessions. Used to run features, fix problems, and decide what to build next.
• Diagnostic data — crash reports and behavioral usage events. Crash reports are aggregated; behavioral events are linked to your account so we can investigate issues you specifically report.
• Ad signals — your Android Advertising ID and standard device signals (country, screen size) that flow through our ad provider. You can reset or opt out of ad personalization in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

Why we collect it

• Run the app and your account.
• Show you the world map and match you with AI personas.
• Maintain your chat threads across sessions.
• Fix bugs and crashes.
• Decide what to build next, based on how features are actually used.
• Show ads that fund free access to the app.

Location

If you choose to appear on the world map (ghost mode off), the app derives your approximate location from your device's location sensor (foreground only, with your explicit permission) or, if you decline that permission, from your IP address. Only an approximate area is stored — never a precise GPS coordinate. You can re-enable ghost mode at any time to hide your location from the map.

Chat and AI

Your messages are processed by a server-side AI service to generate replies. Message content leaves your device in transit to that service and is also stored in your account's chat history so the conversation persists when you return. If you delete your account, all chat threads are removed.

Who else processes it

Service providers help us run the app — sign-in, hosting, crash reporting, analytics, push notifications, and ads. They handle data only on our behalf, never for their own purposes. For the full vendor list and data-type disclosure, see this app's Data Safety section on Google Play.

Ads

We show ads in the app — banners on some screens, short interstitials between transitions, and rewarded ads you can choose to watch to earn coins. Ads are served via Google AdMob; their privacy practices are documented at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads. We do not share any personal information directly with advertisers; only standard mobile ad signals (advertising ID, country, screen size, etc.) flow through AdMob's SDK. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data to advertisers or anyone else.
• We don't track you across other apps or websites.
• We have no in-app purchases — no payment systems are involved at all.
• We don't share your private messages with other users.
• We don't store precise GPS coordinates.

Your controls

• Ghost mode — on by default. Turn it off in Settings if you want to appear on the world map, back on to hide yourself again.
• Location permission — you can deny or revoke location permission at any time in Android Settings; the app falls back to IP-based approximate location for map placement.
• Sign out — clears your session on this device.
• Delete your account — Settings → Account → Delete Account, or email awarself@gmail.com. Removes your profile, chat history, and ad-unlock activity. See Account Deletion for details.
• Request your data — email awarself@gmail.com; we'll send a copy within 30 days.

Retention

Your data persists while your account is active. After deletion, anonymized crash and diagnostic logs detached from your account may be retained for up to 30 days, then permanently removed. Everything else is removed promptly on account deletion.

Children

KpopChat is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at awarself@gmail.com and we will remove the account.

Changes

If we change how we collect or use data, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date. Material changes are also surfaced inside the app.
